Primary School - Ciriculum

The primary curriculum offers pupils the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world and the skills they will need to flourish in it. They experience the excitement of learning by trying new things, learning from their mistakes and recognising their achievements. The primary curriculum helps pupils to develop the confidence they need to continue as lifelong learners.

A world-class primary curriculum should inspire and challenge all learners.

The curriculum enables young people to view the world from many different perspectives and help them to understand how international events affect them locally. The global dimension in the curriculum explores what connects us to the rest of the world.

At The Brendon Primary School we want to pupils to know that they are not just part of Vietnam but also global citizens, with an rounded knowledge of the world and we are all linked together. The curriculum is structured to challenge pupils and introduce world cultures while underlining core British values.

An effective education for the global dimension enables learners to look at complex global issues from a range of perspectives, communicate with people from diverse countries and cultures and participate in society as active global citizens.

The British Primary Curriculum consists of 'Key Stage 1' and 'Key Stage 2' each focusing on developing different areas and skill.
